Database

  • Client-server or free-standing, single user installation.
  • Maximum of 20 simultaneous users
  • Microsoft Access split database (*.accdb)
    • Back end - holds data tables on the server side
    • Front end - holds everything else on each user's workstation

Minimum System Requirements

  • Microsoft Windows XP or higher
  • System administrator must have Microsoft Access 2007 or newer
  • Other users may have either Microsoft Access (the integrated Office Professional suite is preferred) or the free Access Runtime application
  • Anyone still using Office 2007 would benefit from the Microsoft Office Add-in: Microsoft Save as PDF or XPS http://www.microsoft.com/downloads
  • Processor speed and RAM compatible with the above
  • Video display resolution minimum: 1024 x 768 (at least 1280 x 1024 preferred)
  • Mechanism to transfer incoming database files via administrator’s workstation (for onsite installation, USB access to administrator’s workstation is required)
  • Mechanism to distribute front end database among user machines (e.g., shared network folder, Distributed File System, temporary USB port access or CD-ROM)
  • Secure server locations for TEST and PRODUCTION back end databases with adequate storage capacity for future needs (minimum 200 MB recommended).
  • Process to periodically compact/repair and backup the back end database
