Philosophically, I embrace the policy of the village Vaidya of old times: the client decides how much and when to pay for services according to personal means and satisfaction with the advice. Unfortunately, I have found that in contemporary America, people don't value what they don't pay for. As a result, I have set standard rates for my services. Even so, I am accustomed to accommodating those with limited budgets.
If you have a special situation, let me know. We will work something out to get you the help you want at a price you can afford.
In lieu of payment of professional fees, clients with sufficient means may make a charitable donation in my honor to the Brahmananda Saraswati Foundation to advance world peace or to the Maharishi Foundation USA for support of Maharishi's programs in their community. See below for details.
I make house-calls and meet clients in suitable, mutually convenient locations. I also offer telephonic consultations when it's not possible to meet in person. I make extensive use of email, which many clients prefer for follow up questions.
Payment is due at the time of service. I accept cash, money orders, and personal or bank checks. Because my consultations are not for the purpose of "diagnosis and treatment of disease" (as defined by western medicine), they are not generally covered by insurance.
You may choose to have either a comprehensive or limited initial consultation. In either case, you will not pay more than the standard comprehensive consultation fee. If you choose a comprehensive consultation, there are no limits on time.
A typical comprehensive consultation may run two to three hours or more. Following our time together, I will send you detailed, written recommendations. Then, we'll reconnect within the week to answer any additional questions you may have and make sure you have a plan for getting started on the path to improvement. This entire process is covered in full by the comprehensive initial consultation fee.
Alternatively, for those with more limited needs or budget, and especially for those having past experience with Ayurveda, I can do an initial consultation by the clock. The minimum fee is $50 for the first 10 minutes and $25 for each additional 10 minutes. There is no additional charge for review of questionnaires prior to the consultation, but the limited consultation fee does not include detailed written recommendations or a clarification conference. As a practical matter, most need at least a half-hour ($100).
Prior to your initial consultation, you should complete the New Client Questionnaire, the Health Habits Assessment, the Dosha Assessment, the New Dosha Assessment, the Digestion Assessment, the Dosha Imbalance Assessment, and the Ama Assessment.
For those who desire a self-paced learning program to complement their consultation, I also offer access to the Personal Wellness Course from the The Maharishi Integrative AyurVeda Institute. See the Personal Wellness Course page for details and pricing.
When opportunities for improvement are there, a consultation will be of little value if it does not result in desired changes. Most of my clients find Ayurvedic principles attractive, but quite different from their past habits of living. Thus, they face a learning curve for incorporating my recommendations into their daily routine. Because the natural tendency is to revert to existing habits and resist change, the journey to better health takes focused effort over time.
The first six weeks following your consultation are the most critical for building new habits of diet and daily routine. When you get a good start, you reap immediate benefits and build a platform from which it becomes easier to continue making progress.
It helps to have ongoing support from someone who has made this journey and understands the challenges. Moreover, especially when digestive disturbances or Ama are prominent, the therapy may need to be sequenced. For these reasons, follow-up is often important. It can be handled in person, over the phone or via email according to the situation. As we go along, most clients invoke all three approaches.
I don't like clients to have to worry that the "meter is running" for payment of professional fees every time they have a question or hit a road block. Such thoughts pose a barrier to getting the help needed to sustain progress. While you may "pay as you go" according to my hourly rate, you have the option to pre-pay for unlimited follow-up for either 6 weeks or 6 months at a significant discount. This is a really good deal. It reflects my commitment to your success.
Help a loved one get started on the path to self-improvement and better health. Give the gift of an Ayurveda Consultation.
Gift certificates are available in any desired amount and are normally delivered via email to either the requestor or the intended recipient. There are no service charges unless special delivery by USPS, Fedex or UPS is required. Gift certificates have no cash value and must be redeemed for Ayurveda ConsultationsSM services within 6 months of the date of issue.
Pay for your gift certificate by check, cash or money order. You will receive the gift certificate within a few hours of placing your order, but it will not be validated until funds have been received.
The goal of Ayurveda is to maintain the connection of all the parts of our individuality with its source (Wholeness) in a state of perfect balance: to enable the experience of perfect health and freedom in the awareness of our own inner, infinite, unbounded, immortal Self - which is also known as Atma or transcendental, pure consciousness. TM is a powerful technology to effortlessly take the mind to this field. For this reason, I routinely recommend the regular practice of TM to my clients.
For many years, the one-time fee for initial instruction in the Transcendental Meditation technique has been $960 for adults in the USA. The fee covers lifetime follow-up checking for correct meditation practice, advanced lectures and access to Maharishi's other programs. Now a tiered, income-based fee structure is in place. An adult earning less than $50,000 per year will pay $500 divided in four monthly installments. Even lower fees are available to full-time students and those receiving federal assistance. See TM.org for details.
My referral to a qualified TM instructor will make you eligible for a $40 discount. I have no financial relationship with the Transcendental Meditation Program other than as a charitable donor.
In lieu of payment of professional fees, clients may make a charitable donation in my honor to one of these foundations for at least double the amount of fees incurred.
The Brahmananda Saraswati Foundation was established to fulfill the vision of Maharishi Mahesh Yogi for creating permanent world peace. The Foundation provides all aspects of support for two large groups of Maharishi Vedic Pandits, one in India and one in the USA. The work of the pandits harnesses the power of Maharishi's technology of the Unified Field of Consciousness through advanced meditation practices and Vedic performances known as Yagya. For further explanation of this technology and of the relation between the field of Consciousness and human physiology, these videos are worth your while: Interviews with Tony Nader, MD PhD. Donations to the Brahmananda Saraswati Foundation can be made online at Maharishi Vedic Pandit Donations. Those who donate a minimum of $1,250 at one time are recognized by name in the next Yagya performance cycle.
For many years, David Lynch, the well-known movie director, has actively promoted Maharishi's programs. His foundation funds programs to make Transcendental Meditation available to those in need. Such groups currently include military veterans suffering from PTSD, abused women, prison inmates, and school children. The impact has been huge.
The Maharishi Foundation USA serves to make all of Maharishi's programs and knowledge available in local communities throughout the country. Your support of local TM centers helps to carry this work forward. Donations to Maharishi Foundation USA may be made online at TM.org/friends. Click on Donate Now. If you accept "TM Center expenses" as the default Type of Donation, then pick your local TM Center from the drop-down list.
